My Flower Garden

I spent some time in my flower garden today with camera in hand. It was a very peaceful time, though a little chilly. August is often a tough month on Saskatchewan plants as they most often have faced a month of very hot temperatures and wind. This summer has been great for all sorts of plant life and for anyone who relies on their growth. The following images are just a sampling of what I thought looked great today!

This Mandevilla Vine was purchased in Regina and was so absolutely striking that I could not resist it even with the $50.00 price tag! Though I have never been, it makes me think of Hawaii.

Coneflowers are one of my favourite perennials. This one stands tall above the rest, nestled in with the purples and pinks.

One of my greenhouse customers said that she would love to see what I came up with when photographing the back of this variety of osteospermum. I hope I did not let her down!

Saskatchewan has surely been getting some wicked and wild weather this spring/summer! One of the perks, however to the storm clouds, are the amazing sunsets that truely exemplify our Land of Living Skies. My husband Wayne was the first to see these clouds, both in the western and the eastern skies!

This morning, to my absolute delight, the trees were covered in hoar frost! I love hoar frost and have been anxiouly awaiting a day off and this treat from Mother Nature to coincide. George and Rebekah were married on a gorgeous summer day in Regina eight years ago, with an anxious new-be photographer behind the lens...me! I will always treasure this special couple; as a photographer, they were my first bride and groom. We share many great memories from that day. George and Rebekah now reside in Jasper, Alberta where they own and operate a successful restaurant. It was my good fortune to reconnect with this couple and meet their two beautiful children while taking their annual Christmas photo.

I recently purchased a set of textures from photographers at Red Leaf Studios. I love using the textures and seeing the images change in feeling and emotion. Here are a few images taken from a few of my weddings in 2008 to which I have applied different textures.

Craig and Jackie were married at the home where Craig grew up, currently a bed and breakfast. The prairie views... spectacular.

A beautiful wedding at Cypress Hills National Park...a great setting, Angie and Jeff!
